Information for Collegiate Races

You may pre-register for collegiate races here. Online pre-registration ends Thursday, February 2nd at Noon EST. Collegiate cyclists not pre-registered registered by Thursday February 2nd at Noon EST will be charged an additional $2 per race.

Information for Non-Collegiate Races

You may pre-register here for non-collegiate races. Online pre-registration ends Thursday, February 2 at Noon EST. USCF racers will be charged an additional $5 per race for race day registration.

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup will be available from 6 pm – 8 pm Friday, February 3rd in the conference room at the race hotel: Residence Inn (3275 Southwest 40 Boulevard, Gainesville, (352) 264-0000).

Neutral Support

Limited race support will be provided by Super Cool Bike Shop all weekend.

Food

Saturday: A variety of lunch and breakfast items will be provided by Centerplate throughout the day at the Gainesville Raceway.

Sunday: Delicious treats will be provided by the Grilled Cheese Wagon near the start finish area all day. The Grilled Cheese Wagon offers quality healthy food items including grilled cheese sandwiches, quesadillas, egg wraps, fresh baked treats. Other vendors will also be onsite.

Packet Pick Up

Swamp Cross – Team Florida’s First Cyclocross Race – Is This weekend!

Our first ever cyclocross race, organized in conjunction with 352 Racing p/b Bikes and More, is this weekend, Saturday (12/3) and Sunday (12/4). Check out the flier below (or at http://www.usacycling.org/events/getflyer.php?permit=2011-3401). Collegiate races start at 10AM on Saturday and 9AM on Sunday. Cyclocross specific bikes or mountain bikes can be used. If you don’t have either and would like to race, we have loaners – just contact me.

Cyclocross is by far the most fun you can have while riding a bike. If you are new to idea of racing or cyclocross please don’t hesitate, as cross race is more about having fun then anything else.

We are going to have music, the Grilled Cheese Wagon (mmm grilled cheese), Hoggetowne Ale Works, and other surprises. It really is a great time, so bring out your friends and family, come out and race, volunteer, spectate and eat grilled cheese.

We, the TF officers work hard to plan and promote the races for our own team, UF students, and the Gainesville cycling community.

Monday Skills Clinic and Other Road Rides This Week

Starting Monday, rides times are moved to 5pm.

Rides are at a mellow, “no-drop” pace and less than 2 hours long. Contact me or the ride leader if you’ve got any questions.

Monday (Labor Dave)

Skills clinic + knockdown with Dave Lavenhagen. This is a great way to familiarize yourself with close quarters riding in a fun and safe setting. We will practice bumping shoulders, etc.
Team dinner immediately following at Big Lou’s Pizza downtown, near the Hippodrome (map). Make sure to bring lights as it will probably be getting dark by the time we leave.

Leave together at 5pm from Turlington. No team ride Monday – instead, you get to ride through cones and play knockdown on a grass field!!

Hello, and welcome back to all of the returning members, and welcome
to Gainesville for all of the new faces. I will be your team coach
for this year’s adventure and look forward to a great season.

Hopefully almost everyone is up and running with the listserv by now.
As you have probably experienced already, this list gets plenty of
traffic. If you are new and want to send a message, feel free, just
remember to clearly state what the subject of your message is so folks
can quickly scan and filter for unwanted messages. This has worked
fine in the past and eliminated the need to censor frequent
questionable posts.

The most useful messages you will see will contain information about
three main topics: team meetings, team training, race coordination.
Expect them from the following senders.
-I will post the weekly team training.
-Derek will post any meeting information and presidential addresses.
-Dustin White will regularly post the meeting notes.
-and Travel coordinator Rick Bunning(MTB) will post race travel messages.

The best way to get involved with the team is to go to the weekly
meetings, and come on the team rides.

Rest: Off or 1 hr easy ride

Tuesday: Self organized or Hipp Ride
If you do come to the Hipp ride, try to participate in the rotation as
much as you are capable and comfortable with. If in doubt though,
don’t do the rotation.

Wednesday:
2 hrs moderate ride. No intervals

Thursday: Self organized or Hipp Ride
Short Hippodrome ride. Same as Tuesday

Friday
1.5 hrs easy

Saturday
2.5 hrs moderate w/ 3-4 sprints (20-30 sec.)

Sunday
3.5-4 hrs moderate w/ 20 minutes tempo rotation

First Meeting Tuesday!

Come Join Our Weekday Road Rides!!!

On Monday, August 29, we will begin the revitalization of the Team Florida weekday road rides. In the past the rides have been daily, however for now they will be every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 6pm from Turlington Plaza (just across from Century Tower). The rides will be no drop and (in the beginning) between 1 and 2 hours. Each ride will be lead by a Team Florida A or B rider who will select a route in advance and be able to help with any mechanical (or other) problems that may arise. These rides will be a regular MWF occurrence (and if popular enough may be expanded to Tues/Thurs in the future), so even if you can’t make it out right away, the ride will still be there . Hope to see you there!!!

Welcome everyone to the start of the Fall 2011 semester at University of Florida! We hope you’ll come join us at the Recsports Extravaganza this Thursday, August 25 from 6 – 8 pm at Southwest Recreation Center. This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about our club or just come to socialize with us! We’ll have a couple of bikes on display and Dustin has agreed to sacrifice himself for the common good and ride the rollers for the duration of the event. (Not sure what rollers are? Come find out!) We’ll talk about some of the events that we have planned for this year and the kinds of weekly rides that we’ll be scheduling. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner rider or if you are a more experienced – cyclists of all skill levels are welcome in our club. So come on out, visit us at our booth, and enjoy the event!
